Industry, CA – Nov. 25, 2013– The Society of Professional Hispanic Engineers (SHPE), the leading national organization aimed at motivating Hispanics to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), hosted a successful conference drawing more than 5,000 to Indianapolis, Indiana for a four-day technical conference.
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers to Host Pre-College Symposium at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis
Industry, CA – Oct. 24, 2013 –The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) will bring together about 500 middle and high school students from across the U.S. to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), the Pre-College Symposium University host, to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in an interactive environment.
The SHPE Foundation Pre-College Symposium will be held on November 1, 2013 from 7:30am to 4:30pm. The one-day event is designed to motivate students to not only complete high school and attend college but to pursue STEM related degrees and careers. The symposium will be divided into two tracks - high school and middle school - and will feature several hands-on activities as well as workshops related to financial aid, college options, college admissions, and navigating college life. During the college fair, high school attendees will meet with representatives from 25 universities, corporations, organizations and scholarship programs.
