SHPE Announces Elected National Board of Directors
Industry, CA – June 5, 2013 –The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) announced today the 2013 National Board of Directors. The two-year terms of the newly elected board members will begin July 1st.
SHPEmembers elected Barry Cordero to the position of President and Yuliana Porras as Vice President of the National Board.
Cordero, a Principal Project Engineer at Medtronic, is currently finishing his term as SHPE National Vice President. During his term as VP, he assisted with reshaping SHPE's vision and mission and helped established SHPE's first strategic plan in many years. He also served as SHPE Region 6 Vice President in 2010. From 2009-2010 Cordero served as the professional development chair for SHPE and helped transform the "Management Growth Training" program from a purely soft skills event to a focused certification program.

Dear SHPE Stakeholders and Members,
Every day I meet individuals who truly care about SHPE, have dedicated many years to the organization, love and want SHPE to be truly successful. These individuals are willing to roll up their sleeves to make changes in a positive and cooperative environment. Today, those who serve on the National Board of Directors (NBOD), Industrial PartnerSHPE Council (IPC), Management Committee and national staff do so because they see a challenge and are willing to bring people together to resolve it, see an opportunity and inspire others to join in the effort. SHPE has made phenomenal strides because of the cooperative nature of how the organization operates today. If you are one of those ambassadors for SHPE, I urge you to distribute this letter and the State of SHPE newsletter to anyone willing to listen. Many successes are to be celebrated.
